I got to try out the full commando armor yesterday!… although it’s not quite finished just yet. I still have to work on the footwear and improve some of the straps and padding, as well as make the Delta Squad special armor pieces and finish the DC-17m rifle.
I will likely make most of the armor parts in 0.080″ styrene, which seemed like the best material and thickness for strength, flexibility, weight, and detail capture. This is too flimsy for the chest and back, so I will likely use .125″ (1/8″) for those parts. The visor glow does not show up as well in sunlight, but I will try to come up with something (suggestions welcome) for getting either a better glow in sun or a color overlay to wear in daylight. I made a crude muscle shirt to fill out the shoulders and biceps, and I was able to jog in the armor and move around like the commandos do in-game.
I will be offering kits soon: either as raw casts or parts ready for paint with fiberglass and bondo work done on seams of the two-sided parts. There will be waist and thigh size limits on this, but I might make new molds for slightly bigger thighs too. I will be able to make finished sets to your measurements if you meet the thigh requirements, which is the only part that does not have ample room. Pricing to be decided after I have more experience with this kit.

I look forward to making all of Delta Squad!
